Auburn, Ala. - Following a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Tennessee less than 24-hours prior, the 13th-ranked Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Sunday with a light workout. The team spent the hour-long session in shells as they began preparations for No. 21 Vanderbilt.

The Tigers and Commodores will face off for the first time in Nashville since 2003. It also marks the first time that Auburn will face a ranked Vanderbilt team.

Auburn defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads and offensive coordinator Tony Franklin each spoke to the media Sunday and discussed what they saw after watching film from the win over Tennessee.

"It was an accurate reflection of what we got out of them yesterday," Rhoads said. "For the fifth straight game we played with unbelievable effort, I thought. We executed exceptionally well. We had guys where they were supposed to be and were aligned right with great consistency and guys executing their job very well."

Auburn's defense held Tennessee to a season-low 191 yards of total offense, the fewest by a Volunteer team against Auburn since 1988. The Tigers' defense was led by sophomore linebacker Josh Bynes, who in his first start at Auburn recorded a career-best 11 tackles.

Offensively, the Tigers tallied 226 yards against a tough Tennessee defense. The Tigers scored on a 18-yard pass from Chris Todd to Robert Dunn late in the first quarter, but were unable to put additional points on the scoreboard the remaining three quarters.

"We've got to get better," Franklin said. "It's pretty obvious. It's confusing to say the least. We came out and played pretty well early. We've got to play better and find the answers and keep looking for them. We hope to go out and show the answers on Saturday."

Auburn leads the all-time series with Vanderbilt, 20-19-1, having won 13 consecutive in the series. Last season, the Tigers downed the Commodores, 35-7, in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Kickoff at Vanderbilt Stadium is slated for 5 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN. It will mark Auburn's fifth consecutive televised game this season. Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit and Lisa Salters will call the action for ESPN.

Also making an appearance in Nashville will be the popular ESPN College GameDay series. The traveling pre-game show which features ESPN commentators Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard, will make its first-ever appearance in Nashville.

ESPN GameDay was in Auburn on Sept. 20 when the Tigers hosted LSU. It will mark the 10th time that Auburn has played in the on-site game, including the sixth time since 2004.

GameDay airs 9-11 a.m. CT Saturday.
