BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The No. 25 Auburn men's golf team carded a 25-over 299-302--601 and is in ninth place after the first two rounds of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate at Birmingham's par-72, 7,114-yard Shoal Creek Golf Club.

Freshman Kyle Kopsick currently leads all Tigers (73-75--148) in a tie for 15th, individually. Senior Glenn Northcutt (74-77--151) is tied for 25th, freshman John Stembridge (75-77--152) is tied for 31st, and redshirt freshman Cory Gilmer (78-75--153) and senior Cole Moreland (77-76-153) are tied for 37th.

The Tigers were in fourth after the morning round with an 11-over 299 but lost ground after putting up a 14-over afternoon total of 302.

"The afternoon round was tough," said head coach Mike Griffin. "A lot of the guys haven't played 36 holes in one day for a while. Kyle (Kopsick) hit a lot of good shots today. Shoal Creek is a great course. There are some holes you really have to grind through."

Baylor (288-293--581) is currently in the lead followed by LSU (301-288--589), No. 20 Ole Miss (298-294--592), UAB (298-294--592), Tulsa (300-296--596), No. 24 East Tennessee State (300-296--596), North Florida (294-302--596), No. 19 Texas Tech (306-290--596), Auburn (299-302--601), Georgia Southern (305-297--602), No. 21 Wake Forest (309-295--604) and Oklahoma (317-300-617).

UAB's Zach Sucher (72-69--141) is in the individual lead followed by Texas Tech's Will Griffin (74-68--142).

The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:35 am.
